We love to write a little summary review of all the venues we have photographed at, and this is a little mini review of our visits to Leez Priory, Clearwell Castle, Gosfield Hall and St Audries Park.
Leez Priory - We have photographed many weddings at Leez Priory. The venue is located in the Essex countryside near Dunmow and Chelmsford. For the first timer, the venue is a little difficult to find but your in-car satellite navigation system should get you here quite easily. On arrival, you will find this stunning Tudor mansion with beautiful grounds and lakes, and great for both weddings and photography.
At Leez Priory, the ceremony takes place in one of 4 areas sanctioned for civil ceremonies, it could be the Great Hall, The Tower, an outside ceremony in front of the coach house., or at the converted barn. After the ceremony, guests mingle in the courtyard where Pimms is served, often accompanied with chocolate coated strawberries. The wedding breakfast often takes place in either the Great Hall, or at the Barn. In the evening, dancing takes place in the basement while most guests mingle in the bar and lounge areas.
St Audries Park - A lovely countryside setting in Quantoxhead in Somerset. Our clinet's wedding there started at the church / chapel located at the very entrance of St Audries Park. It is a beautiful well lit church. After the ceremony, guests walk up to St Audries Park Manor House, about half a mile uphill on a tree lined pathway. Guests are served drinks, and have an opportunity to play croquet, while family and must have pictures get underway. The large conservatory across from the main building is a great backdrop for photography. In summer, there's beautiful cottage garden plants all around including traditional English roses. The house itself is very much oak panelled, and the Great Hall is used for the wedding breakfast. The galleried landing makes an ideal spot for photography. St Audries Park has beautiful grounds, and the evergreen conifers can be seen everywhere around the manor house, again perfect for wedding photography.
Clearwell castle - This is based in the little village of Clearwell in Gloucestershire. The castle is stunning, and it feels like having your very own castle for the day, at least that's what most of our clients say. They love the wedding room suite which has a 4 poster bed, and it is a very spacious room for getting ready too. The ceremony room is a long room, and looks very much like a church with stained glass windows at the top end. This room is later used for dining. After the ceremony, guests are entertained to a string quartet in front of the castle and drinks served. For those who feel like playing croquet, there is a croquet lawn. Like Leez Priory, dancing takes place in the basement with the bar adjacent to the dance floor.
Gosfield Hall - This is a recent venue added by the owner, and we will be covering a wedding here later this summer, so we will defer till then before writing the review.
